Day One

Today we made our way to the beautiful Paihia, Bay of Islands.  We made a short stop for a nature walk to see one of New Zealand’s Kauri Trees.  Once we arrived at our destination we did a tour of the Waitangi treaty grounds where the Mauri people and the British signed the treaty.  Here we learned more about the history of New Zealand.

Day Two

The following day we went on a Carino Day Sailing trip.  Onboard a catamaran with beautiful weather it was perfect.  Whilst sailing we came across some common dolphins which were amazing.  Standing on the front of the boat watching them jumping out of the water so close was just incredible.  Because the water is so clear here we could see them underwater.  We also came across some penguins, it was so nice to be able to see them in the wild.  We then stopped at one of the islands where we spent some time on the beach. Here you could snorkel or take a hike up the hill to get a greater view of the Bay of Islands.  Getting back on board we enjoyed a delicious BBQ before heading back to Paihia.
