Barbados

Beautiful Barbados…

The Caribbean is undeniably beautiful, a true paradise.  My stop in Barbados was not a disappointing one, from its amazing beaches, fabulous blue sea and of course, it’s a great spot to see turtles!

Swimming with turtles

Turtles have been around for over 120 million years, there are seven types of turtles around the world.  Unfortunately, the majority of them have become endangered over the years.

It’s not every day you get the chance to swim with turtles, these incredible creatures are a fundamental link in our marine ecosystems.  Barbados is the home of three types of turtles; the Hawksbill, Leatherback and the most common one the Green turtle.

Being able to get in the water with these great creatures was a true honour, and the best thing – you don’t even need to be able to scuba dive to be able to swim with them!  I just went snorkelling and was able to get close to them.  Whilst in the water with them it’s important that you respect their habitat and them.  If they swim away, don’t chase them, chances are they will come back around or more are on their way.  Try to keep your distance, let them come to you.  Take your photos/videos but let them do what they do and don’t disturb them.

Snorkel above wrecks and fish

It’s not only turtles you can dive into the ocean to see.  Barbados has an abundance of tropical fish that are just beautiful to see.  I went snorkelling above a wreck, where you could see just how many different types of fish there are in Barbados.  The water here was so clear and you got a great view of the wreck and the marine life that’s there.

If you’re in the Caribbean, Barbados is a great stop to make with so much marine life to experience.
